RNEQC Branches & Meetings
The Quart Club operates with a Branch structure, with a number of branches located around the country, centred on concentrations of RN Engineering presence. The Headquarters branch of the club is based in Portsmouth and is the Senior branch, charged with oversight and coordination of the other branches as necessary. A list of UK branches is below:
Portsmouth
Plymouth
Bristol
Bath
London
Faslane
Each Branch has a small number of roles associated with it, which allow the Branches to function. These roles are filled from serving members who are working in the area. The roles are:
Honorary Secretary (Normally shortened to Hon Sec) - Organises meetings and locations, runs the meeting and produces post-meeting minutes. These minutes capture who was present andthe subjects discussed, but in a light-hearted way. All minutes are retained for posterity, and examples of minutes going all the way back to the 1930s are held by the HQ Branch. Historic minutes are often read at monthly meetings.
Treasurer - Collects the meeting fees and pays for pasties (traditional) or other food consumed during the meeting. Makes a report at each meeting to summarise the financial position of the Branch. This position is also captured in the minutes.
Dinner Secretary - When a Branch is selected to organise the Annual Dinner, the position of Dinner Sec is then filled. The Dinner Sec's role is to coordinate the dinner arrangements, ensuring that location is booked, that the RNTM is published in good time and to ensure a route is available for people to book places.
